We are proposing to carry out traffic signal refurbishment works at the crossroad junction with Falcondale Road and Henbury Road and proposing a new 24 hour bus lane for a short stretch along Falcondale Road.
Proposed Traffic Signal works
The traffic signals at this crossroad junction need replacing due to their age and condition and this is an opportunity to upgrade and improve the junction for all road users including pedestrians and cyclists. The existing junction layout fails to meet a number of current highways design standards and transport policies and if it were refurbished like for like road safety hazards would remain. Therefore, as part of these highway works we are proposing to:
Proposed 24 hour Bus Lane
We are also keen to develop and improve bus services for the city as buses are an essential service getting people to school, college, university, work, sport and leisure activities and they play an important role in connecting people and communities. Therefore the scheme also includes a proposal to improve facilities for bus users by providing:
This bus lane would serve the number 1 and 13 bus services which currently get held up in traffic which can queue past Greystoke Avenue and would help to improve bus journey times and be an important part of the wider strategic bus network.
