Overview

Bristol has been awarded additional funding from the Department for Transport to upgrade and extend walking and cycling routes across the city.

One of these routes is the Southmead Quietway. We are working to make this route a quiet, safe and enjoyable route to get people to work or play all year round. Improving facilities for pedestrians and cyclists along the Southmead Quietway will help give communities in North Bristol a better, healthier alternative for transport.

Why We Are Consulting

We are proposing to introduce a parallel pedestrian and cyclists crossing at the junction of Cairns Road and Coldharbour Road. As well as building out around the junction and introducing a contraflow cycle lane through Cairns Road.

We are consulting local residents and businesses to have a greater view of their attitudes towards the design. We would like to capture any design issues at this stage and alter the design accordingly where possible.

What Happens Next

All comments submitted during the consultation period will be recorded and investigated. We will attempt to incorporate any suggestions into the design where possible.

We will then develop the detailed design before the scheme is formally advertised through the statutory consultation process.
