Overview

Funding has been allocated by the local area committee to install traffic calming on Rousham Road and Stottbury Road with the aim of reducing vehicle speeds and improving safety for all.

 The proposals include;

  • A raised pedestrian crossing (or speed table), at the existing crossing point on Rousham Road next to the stairs.
  • A new speed table on Stottbury Road, which will create a new pedestrian crossing.

The speed tables will slow vehicle speeds as they pass the proposed crossings. The proposed crossings will include flush kerbs with tactile paving.

As part of the scheme there will be double yellow lining at key locations around junctions and crossings, to improve visibility between pedestrians and other road users and protect the junctions.

As part of the design we will also review street lighting and road surface condition around the proposed crossings.

Bristol City Council is seeking the public’s view on this proposed crossing to understand any benefits or disadvantages for local residents.
