Avon Crescent & Ashton Avenue: Re-routing of Through Traffic

Closed 30 Sep 2016

Opened 9 Sep 2016

Overview

The aim of this scheme is to improve the local environment by re-routing the through-traffic via Brunel Lock Road and creating a safer, more pleasant space for pedestrians and cyclists by closing Avon Crescent & Ashton Avenue to through traffic.

We are proposing an improved pedestrian area around the north end of Avon Crescent which will include cycle parking and tree planting. The closed end of Ashton Avenue would be enhanced with soft landscaping whilst maintaining cycle access.

The scheme will not lead to any loss of access for vehicles passing across Spike Island and will maintain traffic flow using larger roads rather than quieter residential streets.

Why We Are Consulting

This consultation offers the opportunity for local residents to comment on the proposals and help shape the final design.

What Happens Next

We will carefully consider all the responses and seek to incorporate them, where possible, in the scheme.
