Investing in the Energy Efficiency of our Community Buildings

Closed 31 Oct 2021

Opened 19 May 2021

Community buildings offer a focal point for the community. This past year they have been at the heart of the COVID pandemic response.

Community buildings can help to lead the way on energy efficiency in their communities and be part of helping achieve city wide net zero carbon emissions. We would like you to consider your local community building, its function, its energy needs and different funding models that make it more energy efficient.

One such funding model is a community municipal council backed bond. Its low-risk investment providing modest financial returns, but which additionally have positive social and environmental impacts locally.

We want your views on this model and if you think there is a need to invest in the energy efficiency of our community buildings. You can also give us any other comments or suggestions about the proposals.

What happens next?

We will use the feedback from the responses you give to further develop our proposals.

This engagement closes on Sunday 31 October 2021. After it has closed, we will carefully consider all the responses to help us develop our proposals for the energy efficiency of our community buildings.
