Redfield Lodge is a council owned and run 40 bed residential dementia care home in the east of the city. 38 of the beds are permanent, one is for emergency respite and one is for planned respite.
The care home has been overspent for the last three years and this year alone it amounts to £227,000. This is mostly due to a rise in operating costs. The weekly cost of supporting someone in each bed is much higher than the charge for each person.
Why We Are Consulting
To find out what people think about the following three options for the future of dementia care:
1) Relocate to new dementia care homes in January 2018
2) Commission 40 places with an external organisation
3) Get someone else to run the centre
What Happens Next
We will take into account all responses to the consultation in making a decision on how we will provide dementia care services in the future.
