Romney Avenue (formerly house numbers 190-196), Lockleaze - Housing Consultation

Closed 27 Feb 2022

Opened 31 Jan 2022

Who are we?

Bristol City Council’s Housing Development Team is now progressing the residential planning application for the development of 100% affordable housing on the site at 190-196 Romney Avenue, Lockleaze.

The project forms part of the Bristol Housing Festival (BHF) and will be built using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). Search on the BHF website for more information.

We have been working with Bristol-based architects AHR to develop the application, based on a modular housing product designed by UK company Modulous.

What we are looking to do

The development will bring good quality and well designed 100% affordable housing for the residents of Bristol.

All properties will be low carbon dwellings that utilise heat pumps to provide heating and hot water for residents.

Solar panels will maximise on-site renewable energy generation and sustainable methods of transport will be encouraged via the installation on electric vehicle charging points.

This consultation is asking for your views on the final designs for the development.

In April 2021 we asked for community input into the initial proposals for the development.

Since then, we have worked with the design team to include the feedback on those proposals, where possible.

We are now sharing the revised designs with you before we submit a planning application later this year.

How can you take part?

You can now look at revised designs  and information on the following pages and provide comments at the end.

What have we done already, what happens next?

A formal pre-application enquiry to the local planning authority was submitted in April 2021, and feedback from this has also been incorporated into the latest designs.

We will be working with the design team to finalise the proposed scheme, with a view to submitting a full-planning application by April 2022.
