Clifton Lido Cycle Stands, Clifton

Closes 31 Mar 2019

Opened 11 Mar 2019

As part of the Bristol City Council’s long-term commitment to improving infrastructure for sustainable transport, the council proposes to provide 6 Sheffield cycle stands on a footway build out with drainage channel on Southleigh Road Clifton.

This scheme was initially proposed by local councillors and CIL funding agreed at the Central Clifton and Harbourside Neighbourhood Partnership Meeting 13th June 2017.

The island will be sited on the western side of the carriageway south of existing parking bays and is to be approximately 8m length by 1.4m with bollard protection at both ends. Double yellow lines will be re-marked around the edge of the build out.

The provision of cycle parking will both promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transport and discourage cyclists from locking their bikes inappropriately to railings, street signs and lamp posts and potentially blocking footways.

Why We Are Consulting

The Central, Clifton and Harbourside Neighbourhood Partnership agreed to fund this scheme in order to provide safe and appropriate cycle parking for residents and visitors to the area.
