Clarence Road - Proposed Dutch-style cycle facility

Closed 25 Aug 2013

Opened 24 Jul 2013

Overview

Funding has been secured from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) and Local Enterprise Zone (LEZ) to enable the provision of a two-way, dutch-style cycle facility on Clarence Road.

To provide this 3 metre wide cycleway we are proposing to narrow the existing carriageway to 6 metres and remove all of the pay and display parking along the length of Clarence Road.  The cycleway will be segregated from motorised traffic using a small bollard and from pedestrians by the existing kerb.

Facilities such as these, which are direct, safe and convenient and separated from pedestrians and traffic will help make cycling more attractive and encourage all abilities and ages to cycle.
