Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council have been awarded £14million from the Department for Transport Challenge Maintenance Bid to reconstruct the carriageway of the A403 from St Andrews Road Roundabout to Aust. Bristol’s share is £7.5million.
In addition to reconstructing the road and pavement to extend the life of the highway and reduce future maintenance costs and disruptions we will be significantly improving the pedestrian and cycling environment, providing new bus stop infrastructure, improving road safety, and deliver improved drainage and energy efficient lighting.
Why We Are Consulting
The reconstruction of the carriageway is essential to ensure the road is fit for purpose but we want to hear your views on the proposals to reconfigure the road to improve road safety, and encourage sustainable transport.
During construction there will be significant disruption, including times where sections of the road will be closed. Where possible, road closures will be undertaken at night and we are particularly interested to hear from you if this presents a significant problem.
For further information on the scheme, information of how to get involved in the Severnside area and register to attend the two consultation event dates on 24th June at 1.30pm in Avonmouth Community Centre and Wednesday 8th July at 1.30pm at the Bristol Port Company, St Andrews House see the link below.
