School Attendance Strategy Consultation

Closed 20 Nov 2018

Opened 9 Oct 2018

Improving school attendance and reducing persistent absenteeism is a priority for Bristol and is a crucial part of the city’s ambition to raise standards and secure the best outcomes for all young people.

The draft Attendance Strategy recognises school attendance as everyone's responsibility. In order to improve school attendance, a citywide partnership approach is needed. All schools, council services and partner agencies need to work together with children, young people, parents and carers to remove the barriers to good school attendance.

The draft Attendance Strategy has been produced through a series of consultation events with partners, including focus groups with young people. We are now sharing the draft strategy more widely to get input from a broader range of people.

Consultation feedback will be analysed and will inform the re-drafting of the strategy.

A summary of consultation feedback will be produced and made available.

The strategy will be available publically but consultation respondents are invited to provide their email address so that the final strategy can be shared with them directly and so that they can be engaged in joint work to improve attendance across the city.
